Terms of Use
Last updated: August 2, 2026
These Terms govern your use of the Crossed Paths app (the “App”), operated by an independent individual developer (“we,” “us,” “our”). By downloading or using the App you agree to them.
1. What the App does
The App reads the location and date stored inside the photos on your device, builds a private map of the places you have been, and — when you connect with someone using an invite code — shows the places you have both been and the times you were there days apart.
2. Accuracy
Results are only as good as your photo metadata. Locations are grouped into cells of roughly one kilometre, so an “overlap” means you were both in the same small area, not necessarily the same room, building or event. Dates come from your camera's clock. The App never invents a result: if your metadata does not support it, it is not shown. Do not rely on the App for anything requiring certainty about someone's whereabouts.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the App:
- to track, stalk, monitor or harass any person;
- to connect with someone who has not shared their invite code with you willingly;
- to attempt to identify or locate a person against their wishes;
- to reverse engineer, disrupt or overload the service.
Connections are mutual by design: nobody appears on your map unless they chose to share a code, and either side can stop participating. We may terminate access for behaviour that endangers others.
4. Subscriptions
The App offers an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the personal map, Discover features and the poster. Connecting with a friend who invited you is free.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Prices are shown in the App and may vary by region.
Refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms; we cannot issue them directly.
5. Your content
Your photos remain yours and never leave your device. The coarse map data you generate stays yours; you grant us only the limited permission needed to store it and compute overlaps with people you connect to.
6. Availability
The App is provided “as is”. We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. Some features depend on third-party services (Apple, Google Firebase, RevenueCat) and may be unavailable if those services are.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms; the date above will change. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
